Leeds United loan watch

|

Leeds United slipped to another defeat this weekend when they lost out narrowly 1-0 at Nottingham Forest. However, there were some good performances for the players out on loan.

Several Leeds players are currently out on loan at various clubs around the country and in Europe. Here, we take a look at how they all got on in their fixtures this weekend. There have been some stand-out displays for Lewis Bate in recent weeks as well as debuts for Diego Llorente and Joffy.

Diego Llorente: The Spaniard left Leeds for Italy and was introduced as a late substitute. Making his debut for AS Roma in the 94th minute when he replaced Nicola Zalewski in their 2-0 victory over Empoli, a win that sent Roma above Lazio into third place in the Serie A table.

Joe Gelhardt: Joffy was handed his first start for Sunderland and completed 89 minutes as they played out a 1-1 draw at Millwall. The Black Cats are now up to ninth in the Championship table just two points outside the playoff places. It is looking like Gelhardt will be getting more minutes after star striker Ross Stewart has been ruled out for the rest of the season with an Achilles injury. Another loanee, Charlie Cresswell who is on a season loan at The Den was handed his first start since December and played 90 minutes. Jamie Shackleton was an unused substitute in the draw.

Ian Poveda: Poveda was left on the bench for Mick McCarthy’s first league game as Blackpool boss. He was brought on with nine minutes remaining, but the Seasiders slipped to a 3-0 away defeat at the hands of Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium.

Cody Drameh: Drameh played 6o minutes on his second start for Luton Town as the Hatters narrowly overcame Stoke City at Kenilworth Road. The game finished 1-0 with the Leeds man picking up a booking late in the first half.

Leo Hjelde: Hjelde played the full game as Rotherham held promotion-chasing Sheffield United to a 0-0 draw at the New York City Stadium. Earning the plaudits for another strong performance at left-back.

Lewis Bate: Bate has been in impressive form of late and played the full game as Oxford United beat Shrewsbury Town 1-0 at the Kassam Stadium.

Dan James and Alfie McCalmont were both unused substitutions for Fulham and Carlisle respectively. Jack Jenkins was left out of the Salford squad for the ninth successive game, Tyler Roberts was nursing a hamstring injury so missed the 1-1 draw with Huddersfield and Stuart McKinstry started on the bench and was introduced in the 56th minute as Motherwell suffered a 3-1 defeat at Aberdeen.
