Leeds United Head of Medical offers brilliant update on crocked 26 y/o

|

Leeds United are in the middle of a pivotal week in the quest to get out of the Championship, but the club’s Head of Medical Rob Price is confident that the long-term picture will include Kemar Roofe.

Roofe will still be out of selection for Marcelo Bielsa for the next few weeks yet, while he begins the recovery process from his knee ligament injury, but Price has told United’s official club website that the striker is showing great signs already.

What is impressive, though, is that Price claims the 26-year-old wanted to get to work on his rehabilitation the day after the Swansea game in which he developed the blow.

Leeds’ Head of Medical claims that the Whites’ top goalscorer, with 14 to his name, wanted to get to work from the first available opportunity so that he could better his chances of expediting the recovery process and return sooner than first feared.

His absence, and the extent of the injury, had raised a lot of concerns that our promotion push would slide off the rails, as we had already lost Gaetano Berardi to a severe injury earlier on in the campaign and the Swiss defender is yet to return.

“[Roofe] actually more or less completely tore one of the ligaments on the outside of his knee, and the good news is that he is not going to need any surgery,” Price said. “He doesn’t need any further intervention, and this will heal by itself.

“You’ll probably see him out and about in a brace for about three weeks but we’re hoping that it will heal reasonably quickly and he’ll be back to play some part later this season.

“He’s already started [rehabilitation]. One of the big things that Kemar did on the day after [he got injured] is say he wanted to do double sessions, I wanna be making myself stronger.

“He’s a really, really good pro and the fact that he’s working so hard, he’s going to reduce his time out.”
