Leeds fans have been sharing their thoughts online regarding Marcelo Bielsa’s future at United after the Yorkshire Evening Post’s Phil Hay added fuel to the fire.
There has been concern of late that Bielsa would not be sticking around at Elland Road for the foreseeable future after the Daily Mail issued a report claiming that the Argentine will look to terminate his contract should the Whites fail in their efforts at securing Premier League football.
Bielsa has been known throughout his career not to be shy of jumping ship and moving on to another side, as the 63-year-old has not stayed in a role for more than a season since leaving Athletic Bilbao in 2013.
Before that, he enjoyed lengthy stints in charge of Argentina and Chile, but his recent club record should have ensured fans did not become too attached when he arrived in West Yorkshire.
If we do fall short in our quest for top-flight football, and the Daily Mail’s claim that Bielsa will trigger his break clause is true, it could seriously derail what is being built at Elland Road.
That is why fans were so quick to react online when Hay reiterated a claim that people close to Bielsa had said he would only ever be at the club for a year unless we returned to the big time…
He just seems so at peace here though. Given the fall outs he’s had at clubs in recent years I don’t see his motivation to go elsewhere.

Probably retire rather than go elsewhere. Effort he puts in probably has him drained from years of it.

Don’t get me wrong, I think we’ll go up anyway so it’ll be a moot point, but I’d be shocked if they couldn’t convince him to stay even if we had some kind of late season meltdown.

His track record isn’t great he’s an impact manager not a long term manager he doesn’t stay around long. He was always a one season wonder #lufc

I’ve got a bad feeling about this.

It was obvious. Why stay here in the championship. He is bigger than the club at the present and his ambition is bigger

But that was before he had a chance to visit God’s own county. Now he’s in love the place, I’m sure he’ll stay even if we do not go up.
