There’s certainly a feel good feeling around Leeds United in the season of 2018/19 as despite some wobbles, manager Marcelo Bielsa’s first team squad have promotion in their hands, and our Under 23 group are following close behind sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League 2 northern section.
Monday evening’s action for Carlos Corberan’s side was a Premier League Cup clash with Newcastle United, and with a pretty comfortable 3-1 victory on the night, we are sat at the top of Group H and we now progress through to the final 16 stage of the competition.
With a number of youngsters being given their spurs this year by Bielsa, a number of others continue their slow and steady progression, albeit they aren’t quite going under the radar. The likes of Ryan Edmondson and Hugo Diaz are two such youngsters, and they came in for good praise – alongside their colleagues – on Monday night from fans following the action on social media.

Thought Hugo Diaz was excellent for the under-23s tonight. If he breaks through, it’ll surely be as a holding midfielder as he looks to have made the position his own. #lufc

Good to see the 23's getting the job done at the business end of the season. #lufc

In theory he should be fine as the u23s play much the same system and style as the 1st. Could be good in the 1st team as he's a big 'un who bullies defenders a bit
