Leeds United confirm arrival of young, dynamic midfielder

Leeds United have confirmed the signing of Poland Under 19 international Mateusz Bogusz.

The Whites announced the signing on Tuesday afternoon, and were pleased to say that the 17-year-old had signed a two-and-a-half year contract at Elland Road that runs until the summer of 2021.

Bogusz will not be a part of Marcelo Bielsa’s first-team for the foreseeable future, though, and will instead link up with Carlos Corberan’s U23 side.

Leeds had been tracking the 17-year-old for several months and he also earned the interest of Premier League outfit Brighton and Hove Albion, but Ruch Chorzow accepted United’s offer last week.

The seven-cap international flew to the United Kingdom over the weekend to finalise his transfer after visiting the club’s Thorp Arch training ground earlier in the month to discuss the potential move.

Bogusz is capable of playing in any central midfield position, and arrives having scored five goals in 19 appearances in Poland’s third-tier this season.
