Leeds are considering a move to sign midfielder Fredrik Aursnes from Molde, a report from The Sun has claimed.

Aursnes was signed for Molde by now Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer back in 2015, and has since gone onto make 148 appearances in all competitions for the defending Norwegian champions, although it seems he could soon be on the move.

According to the latest reports, Leeds are keeping tabs on the player’s progress, as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of their long-awaited return to the Premier League next month.

It is thought that it will cost around £5million for the Whites to secure the services of the 24-year-old, who has around a year and a half remaining on his current contract in Norway, and is keen to test himself outside of his homeland.

Toulouse, who were relegated from the French top-flight following the abandonment of the 2019/20 Ligue 1 campaign earlier this year, have also been credited with an interest in the former Norway Under 21 international.

Even so, you feel that this is Leeds signing to have, if they want it.

With the windfall they have earned from winning promotion to the Premier League, there should be little concerns about being able to afford the £5million it would seemingly take to secure the services of Aursenes this summer.

Meanwhile, the fact that they can offer him Premier League football, as opposed to Ligue 2 football with Toulouse, surely makes the Whites a more appealing prospect than the French club when the player comes to decide on his next destination.

However, given the step up a move to Leeds is likely to challenge Aursnes to make, you wonder whether this a deal that the club will ultimately go for, something which may depend on what other options emerge for the Whites.
