Chelsea have offered Leeds the chance to sign striker Michy Batshuayi this summer, a report from HLN in the player’s native Belgium has claimed.

Batshuayi found opportunities hard to come by at Stamford Bridge last season, starting just one Premier League game, and eventually recording a return of six goals from 24 appearances in all competitions.

Now, with just 12 months remaining on his contract at Chelsea, it looks as though the club are planning to cut their losses on Batshuayi.

According to the latest reports, Leeds have been told they can sign Batshuayi for a fee of €25million (£22.63million), with the 2019/20 Championship title winners now considering whether or not to do that.

There would at least be one familiar face for Batshuayi were he to make the move to Elland Road, with the striker having already played under current Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa at Marseille.

There does seem to be much to consider for Leeds before they decide whether or not they agree to pay that price for Batshuayi in the next few months.

As things stand, the club still only have Patrick Bamford as a senior option upfront, and given his erratic nature when it comes to taking chances, they surely need to add to their attacking options ahead of that long-awaited return to the top-flight of English football.

Batshuayi’s pedigree at top-flight level suggests he could be useful to help fill that role, but at €25million this still feels like a lot to pay for a striker who isn’t exactly a regular for his current club, and has only a year to go until he is a free agent.

Consequentially, as is the case with every move they make this summer, with several areas of the squad needing to be addressed this summer, Leeds must be careful not to price themselves out of moves for other players in their pursuit of Batshuayi.
