Leeds United have confirmed the all-important shirt numbers for the coming Championship campaign of 2018/19.

Well, I say all-important, I’m not sure shirt numbers these days can be overly read into as players pick their favourite numbers with little rhyme or reason for the more traditional fans of 1 to 11, but Leeds set this year does confirm a few things for the faithful and give us an opening into manager Marcelo Bielsa’s thinking.

Numbers 3, 5 and 9 for traditional thinking have been left vacant which surely implies plans are afoot behind the scenes to actually add some players on a permanent basis as opposed to the loan deals we’ve seen so far.

Vurnon Anita, Eunan O’Kane, Ouasim Bouy, Hadi Sacko, Caleb Ekuban and Luke Murphy have all not featured in pre-season and have found themselves omitted from the list so the expectation is they are all off if we can find suitors.

Yosuke Ideguchi is also missing despite his pre-season involvement.
