Leeds Players Will Like Bielsa’s International Break Instructions

|

It might not have been the perfect start to the 2019/20 Championship campaign for Leeds United and manager Marcelo Bielsa, but with defensive improvements, we go into the November international break sat in third place in the second tier table, only two points off West Bromwich Albion in top spot.

The break could be well timed for us with a few players currently sidelined with injury, and we all know that with a more pragmatic and defensive outlook this year, there’s plenty of work that can be done on the training ground when it comes to our attacking intent again.

That will no doubt feature over the next fortnight, but our Argentine gaffer has been quite clear about his focus as we head towards a cramped and incredibly busy December and festive period.

Speaking to the LUTV following our 2-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers at the weekend, Bielsa confirmed the first priority was rest and relaxation.

“First of all, the players have to rest. Even more because we don’t stop in December, the Championship continues – in 40 days we are going to have ten matches. We are going to have some weeks with three matches a week. So first of all, rest, and after that, we prepare for the Luton match.”

It should be a decent run of fixtures for us now when football returns so the table could look quite different come December.
