Leeds United have reportedly made an enquiry for a Premier League player ahead of a potential summer switch and it’s one that could see Victor Orta make amends for a previous failure at Elland Road.

The west Yorkshiremen have explored the possibility of signing Canaries playmaker Emi Buendia, but are yet to receive a reply as per their exclusive sources, according to the Read Network,

Daniel Farke’s men are staring down the barrel at relegation this campaign, and if things don’t turn around quickly, then it’s awfully hard to envisage the young Argentine sticking around for a Championship season.

He will no doubt be in demand following his impressive performances in the top-flight, and it appears as if Leeds are trying to jump ahead early.

Should Leeds try to land Emi Buendia this summer?

Absolutely!

No thanks!

No thanks!

It’s also no surprise to see Orta interested as he once failed to land the 23-year-old after his emergence at feeder club Cultural Leonesa, so much so it left members behind the scenes angry at his emergence as per reports from Football Insider.

Norwich landed him for just £1.5m from Getafe, an absolute steal considering his numbers at the club.

This season alone, the attacking midfielder has provided seven assists whilst averaging 3.2 dribbles, 2.6 key passes, 2.3 tackles and 1.1 shots per game, via WhoScored.

If that doesn’t reek of a potential heir to Pablo Hernandez’s throne, I don’t know what is.

Leon’s manager at the time, Ruben de la Barrera, has previously lauded Buendia for being a “game-changing” player who “gave us things no one else could.”

Who did Leeds United sign Kiko Casilla from?

Meanwhile his teammate Max Aarons has also waxed lyrical about the Canaries star, he said: “When you’ve got someone, who wants to run at you, then it’s easier to lock them down whereas someone like him is quite intricate so it’s hard to get near him. He’s tenacious and very strong. He’s got a lot of attributes.”

It remains to be seen how much Buendia would cost Leeds, but Transfermarkt currently value him at £13m while Sky Sports claimed that he’d cost a club over £20m back in the summer.

You’d imagine the fee would be a lot lower if they go down.

Sunday’s defeat to Cardiff exposed Marcelo Bielsa’s squad depth hugely with Hernandez absent, there wasn’t a viable backup option to call upon, so therefore Orta should make amends this summer.

Buendia can fill that void and eventually take the baton from the loveable Spaniard.
