Mateusz Bogusz says he will leave Leeds United on-loan when the transfer window reopens later this summer.

The midfielder has made just two appearances for the Whites since joining from Ruch Chorzow in his native Poland back in the 2019 January transfer window, one of which came as a substitute in Wednesday’s final day win over Charlton at Elland Road.

Now it seems as though the 18-year-old is plotting a temporary move away from the club in search of more regular first-team football, something he appears to have been thinking about for some time.

Speaking about his future in an interview with Polish broadcaster TVP Sport: “I wanted to go on loan this season, but Bielsa didn’t let anyone go. Now I will be gone 100 per cent, we’ve already talked about it. First I will sign a new contract and then I will go on loan.”

Discussing whether that move will see him see remain in the Championship after Leeds’ promotion to the Premier League, or head abroad, Bogusz went on to add: “I do not know yet. I have various offers, but I have to deal with the club because they said they won’t let me anywhere.

“I don’t know yet whether the Championship or to another country. I think that in days I will know where I will go.”

Is Mateusz Bogusz right to look for a loan move?

Yes

Yes

No

No

This does seem to be a sensible approach for Bogusz to take.

There is no doubt he is a promising player, but it is hard to see him forcing his way into Marcelo Bielsa’s side any time soon, given his lack of experience, and the scale of what they have achieved.

As a result, a loan move elsewhere should give Bogusz the opportunity to develop, both in terms of ability and experience, into a player who will be capable of challenging for a regular first-team spot when he returns to Elland Road.

Indeed, the fact that Bogusz is keen to secure such a move shows the determination he has to get an opportunity even at a such an early stage of his career, an attitude that ought to serve him well during his time in the game.
