Leeds Man Labels Blades Fans “Daft” For Over The Top Celebrations

|

Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford has certainly had plenty to say following the harsh and undeserved defeat to Sheffield United in our last game.

Whether the game eventually proves to be pivotal in the Championship 2018/19 race for the automatic spots is unknown at this stage, but Sheffield United have taken a slight advantage with how they ground out the three points on offer.

With Bamford already making the point that he views it as a bonus when it comes to the pressure, given we’ve been leading the pack for large parts of the season, he also couldn’t resist a small dig in their direction following the excessive way they celebrated the win.

Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds following the fulltime whistle, he explained.

“It was funny what they were singing, telling us we were bad. I know we lost but I think they’ve been a little bit daft there. Hearing them and hearing the Sheffield boys, it was as if they think they’re already up. Eight games to go, that’s a lot of points to play for so nothing’s written in stone yet.”

It’s a small point in the grand scheme of things and whilst some may smile at his comments from a banter point of view, that elation and relief at taking the win could quickly bottom out now the pressure is on them to maintain the gap. We’ve already dealt with disappointments and bounced back, the spotlight is now on them and the twists and turns aren’t over, so if they let complacency creep in or the pressure builds too much – well, it’s still anyone’s in reality given the tightness in the points.
