According to reports, Leeds United have shown an interest in the Villareal and Senegal striker as a replacement for the misfiring Patrick Bamford.

As per LeedsLive, La Liga striker Boulaye Dia has caught the attention of Jesse Marsch and according to Gazzetta Dello Sport, the striker, like many other players, is keen to use the World Cup to put himself in the shop window and gain a move to Europe ahead of the January transfer window. Dia has gained notoriety in Italy, scoring six goals and providing two assists from his 14 appearances this season. He also started Senegal’s opening match of the World Cup in Qatar on Monday as his side was defeated by the Netherlands 2-0.

Before signing for Villarreal last year, Dia netted 28 times in just over 80 appearances for the Ligue 1 side, Stade de Reims. He has made 20 appearances for Senegal scoring three goals and is said to be very keen on a move to England. Leeds are on the lookout for a striker and could certainly use a player of his ability.

The 26-year-old is currently on loan at Serie A side Salernitana, and it is believed the loan agreement has a buy option for around £13m, which could be a stumbling block for Leeds and indeed any future transfers for the player. The Whites are in need of a forward with Patrick Bamford not regaining anywhere near the sort of form he showed in the club’s first season back in the Premier League and the club having to rely on Rodrigo Moreno, who, to be fair to him, has done very well in front of goal this season.

Would Boulaye Dia be a good signing?
