Reported by GiveMeSport and transfer insider Dean Jones, Jesse Marsch and Leeds United are now able to focus their attention this transfer window on bringing in a new striker, following securing the signature of Red Bull Salzburg defender Max Wober.

Director of Football Victor Orta is reportedly weighing up potential attacking options to bolster Leeds goalscoring capabilities, following unfortunate and repeated injury setbacks for the English forward Patrick Bamford.

As discussed on GiveMeSport, as well as here on Vital Leeds, the Whites could shift their focus towards Coventry City striker Viktor Gyökeres, who has scored 18 goals and registered 5 assists in 47 appearances for the Sky Blues.

According to FBref [via GiveMeSport], Gyokeres ranked in the 99th percentile for progressive passes received, 97th for shot-creating actions, 95th for dribbles completed and attacking penalty area touches, and 86th for expected assists among positional peers in the past 12 months.

Impressive stats like this will be pleasing to Leeds fans, as they would indicate the striker could be a very suitable fit for Marsch’s side.

While Leeds have been without the injured Patrick Bamford for the most-part of this season and last, Rodrigo has been excellent in front of goal for the Whites this season. The Spanish forward has found the net an impressive 10 times already in the 2022-23 season, despite missing some time in September with a shoulder injury.

Rodrigo’s form would make for serious competition to any striker that could join Leeds this window, but with so much football left in the season and a concerning injury record, the club and fans alike will be looking for cover in the attacking department.
