A short time ago this afternoon, the long-running saga of Leeds United’s loan chase for Chelsea goalkeeper Jamal Blackman came to an end.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper who gained good experience in the Championship season of 2017/18 during a spell with Sheffield United has finally signed on the dotted line at Elland Road and completed his season-long loan.

Whilst at Bramall Lane last year, he made a total of 33 appearances across all competitions and helped himself to nine clean sheets.

Speaking to the Official Site as confirmation of his arrival was given to the media in the arranged press conference, Blackman explained that he was looking forward to spending the next 12 months with us and he was obviously hoping for more good game time once again.

“I’m really happy to sign, I’m really looking forward to it, it is going to be a good season and hopefully there are big things to come from this club. Speaking with the manager and staff and coming up from Chelsea, everyone felt it was a good step for me in the right direction and I want to show what I can do on the big stages.”

Whilst his arrival has been welcomed, there are certainly those fans who aren’t that impressed that it’s another loan deal as opposed to a permanent signing given the way the fanbase are crying out for one as a better statement of intentions from the club ahead of the coming season.
