Leeds could sign prolific prospect as Whites intermediary discusses move for rising star – opinion

Andrea Radrizzani may be about to boost Marcelo Bielsa’s attacking line-up with a prolific prospect, as FC Inter 1908 understand Lorenzo Tonetti has held a meeting with Inter Milan while acting as the right-hand man for our owner.

The Italian outlet does not specify who precisely the player in question during the alleged meeting was, but suggest it would more than likely have been in regard to a loan deal for one, if not more, of their youth stars.

Inter’s Primavera 1 squad is currently brimming with talented prospects waiting for their first-team breakthrough at the San Siro, and given recent reports have suggested Juventus’ Stephy Mavididi is on United’s radar, one of the Nerazzurri’s attacking talents coming to Elland Road is not too far fetched of an idea.

Leeds could do with another option at the top of the field next term, and if reports are to be believed that we are only targeting loan deals this summer, taking on one or more of Inter’s prospects could be a shrewd route to take; as five of their Under 19s struck double figures across all competitions in the 2018/19 season.

Their most prolific youth centre-forward was Sebastiano Esposito, who hit 16 in the Under 17 – B division before making the step up to the U19s in January, with whom he would go on to add a further eight in 18 games and spend time training with the senior squad.

Parma-born Andrea Adorante, meanwhile, hit 13 in all competitions in the recent campaign, while Eddie Salcedo struck 13 in 34. Moreover, Davide Merola and Facundo Colidio scored 12 each, with Argentina U20 international Colidio also penning six assists to his Italian teammate’s three.

If Tonetti was in Milan to discuss players to plug gaps behind our striker next term, defensive midfielder Marco Pompetti might be an exciting option, as the 19-year-old made 40 appearances last season, in which he was accredited with 12 assists.

As for options on the flanks – given we have been linked with a plethora of options out wide recently – Palermo product Felice Damico could be a worthwhile addition, as the 18-year-old left-winger scored seven times, and assisted a further four, for Inter and Chievo’s U19s, having moved to Milan last summer before securing a loan deal to the Verona-based side in January.
