Kinnear at it again – ridiculous statement surrounding loan exit

|

Leeds United’s chief executive Angus Kinnear has once again made a laughable comment to justify an action the board are taking regarding the loans of our youngsters.

Not so long ago, the board commented on our reluctance to sign a striker by reminding the fans we have ‘two international number nines’ on the books. Those two being Rodrigo, who hasn’t kicked a ball for Spain in nearly two years and Patrick Bamford who has played half an hour against Andorra. Not exactly tearing up the International scene, are they Angus?

Granted, Bamford has shins made of shredded wheat and has been in and out of the team more than the tide has on Cleethorpes beach, but just when you thought the hierarchy couldn’t say anything more silly, Kinnear comes out with another comparison which is just head-slappingly ridiculous. One can only guess he is talking about Joe Gelhardt, as he is the striker that looks likely to be going out on loan this January, with Angus Kinnear comparing him to Harry Kane.

As per Leeds United Live, Angus Kinner said, “Harry Kane had four different loan spells before he became England’s best striker and Championship experience is a significant step up from competing in Premier League 2.”

He added, “Rutter’s arrival will mean we will be looking to make some outbound loans before the end of the window. We believe being more active in loaning out our emerging talent will be important in ultimately accelerating their ability to contribute to our first team.”

Now don’t get me wrong, I agree with loaning Joffy out. I actually think it will be good for his development, someone of his age needs time on the pitch, something he currently isn’t getting under Jesse Marsch. It’s the way the board have to justify it with some silly comparison or statement. We get it, you want him out on loan, just say it’s for his development and move on.

Kinnear needs to keep his comments out of the matchday programme, in the same way, Andrea Radrizzani needs to stay off Twitter when we win. Although it was that long ago, he’s probably still on dial-up.
