Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani has revealed the club could try to sign Edinson Cavani this summer, but says he has yet to discuss a possible move for the forward with manager Marcelo Bielsa.

Cavani is a free-agent after leaving French champions PSG at the end of last season as their club record goalscorer, having scored exactly 200 goals in 301 appearances during his seven-year spell in France’s capital.

Now, with Leeds looking for some fresh goalscoring options ahead of their return to the Premier League, it seems that Radrizzani is considering a spectacular move for the 33-year-old.

Speaking about the possibility of signing Cavani this summer, Radrizzani was quoted by Leeds Live as telling Sky Sports Italy: “In addition to his quality, Cavani could contribute with his physicality and adapt here, but I’ve never talked about him with the coach.

“Having said that, we’ve certainly thought about him and we’ll see, given he’s still available on a free transfer.”

Radrizzani also revealed that Cavani is not the only PSG icon Leeds hold an interest in, explaining that the club looked to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic in January, although he did admit that the prospect of another move for the Swede is less likely.

Discussing that interest in the 38-year-old, Radrizzani revealed: “Ibrahimovic will certainly be difficult. We tried to sign him in January, but he chose to join Milan and the deal vanished.

“Now I think it’s too late, the intensity of English football is different.”

Who would you rather see at Leeds next season?

What a signing either of these two players would be.

Both Cavani and Ibrahimovic are huge names in football, meaning either would be a big statement of intent from Leeds were they able to pull it off, not to mention a proven and reliable source of goals at top-flight level.

However, even though they are both out of contract this summer, the wages they would surely expect means this would certainly not be cheap for Leeds, and they will have to consider if it will impact on strengthening other areas of their squad that may need addressing, before committing to any such deal.
