Leeds United deservedly sit top of the Championship and it seems as though they would win promotion if the season stopped now.
That’s after the EFL recommended that a points per game system is used to decide the remainder of the campaign, meaning the second-tier ends as it is now because they’ve all played the same number of games – with the Whites going up as champions.
Despite that, Leeds have stated in the past that they want to finish the season on the pitch and CEO Angus Kinnear reiterated that view in the Yorkshire Evening Post yesterday, insisting the only focus is playing the games.
Will Leeds United be playing in the Premier League next season?
Yes
No
Unsurprisingly, this divided some of the fan base as whilst it’s the right thing to do, the reality is it’s all about returning to the Premier League for the club and not playing another game is likely to seal that, even though the EFL’s proposal still needs to be passed by 51% of the clubs.
Here we look at some of the reaction to Kinnear’s comments…
Kinnear spouting off again, remember his ‘were not bothering with the playoffs we are going straight up’ comment last season that didn’t end well did it..

Absolutely right. Finish this on the pitch. I can understand fans wanting to cut and run, but it willl be forever tainted as far as Iām concerned.

Everybody is talking like; we go up via PPG or play and go up.
We’re only 7 points in front of Fulham in 3rd. It could (and has in the past) go very wrong. There’s absolutely no guarantee we go up if we play.ā Ian Boughton (@ianloaded) May 22, 2020
Im sure as a business man Radz would be thinking lets take the money….empty grounds, no matchday sales, testing costs and still loads of uncertainty around it all anyway…..remember the vote for -15….id have no issue in voting curtail

Never mind all this “doing the right thing” idea, take the PPG and run, that’s what I say! If anything can go wrong with us, it almost certainly will!
