Swedish international Pontus Jansson is due to return to pre-season training this week at Leeds United following his extended summer break having been on duty for his country at the World Cup out in Russia.
With such a quiet summer for the club so far in terms of strengthening and making moves in the transfer market, the 27-year-old will walk back into extremely familiar surroundings really. He can welcome Lewis Baker and Jamal Blackman but that’s about his lot – at least so far.

New gaffer Marcelo Bielsa will be a new face and their discussions could be key to his future according to some fans with the summers rumour mill already tentatively linking him with a move away from Elland Road. It’s fair to say though that worries about a departure are based on an interview earlier in the summer where he just admitted he’d like to test himself at Premier League level – which player wouldn’t?
Either way, with everything else going on this summer, or not as the case may be, his departure is a genuine fear for some fans.
Needs to have a season like his first or we could be in trouble defensively

Pontus will want to leave. Said he wanted the club to show ambition & they haven't. Don't blame him if he does.

I don't think we can sell him with our lack of CB's. We'll see about signings.

Don’t think he wants to go tho mate he’s looking forward to working under Bielsa. Having said that we are Leeds and like doing things the hard way, we will sell him day before window closes ????????

For me appointing Bielsa & giving him the same team to work with is not shoring ambition. He isn't a magician. Squad needs quality added

I would be amazed if Pontus doesn't ask for a transfer, he isn't getting younger and will want to play premier league. #lufc are showing zero ambition.

If he leaves I'm emigrating.
