‘Goodbye my sweet prince’ – Loads of Leeds fans react to £20m ace’s rumoured cut-price exit

Loads of Leeds supporters have been reacting on social media after The Sun claimed Jack Clarke is close to leaving Elland Road for Tottenham Hotspur.

The Whites product has been heavily linked with a move to North London this summer, following a stellar breakthrough campaign that saw the 18-year-old named our Young Player of the Year, having scored twice and assisted twice in 24 Championship appearances, despite only starting four games.

Spurs’ best offer, though, was often thought to be £10million, until it was reported last week that Mauricio Pochettino’s Champions League Finalists had upped their bid considerably, yet it still fell some way shy of our £20million asking price.

It was also claimed Tottenham would make an approach to Clarke’s representatives to tempt the wide-midfielder with a lucrative five-year contract, which would include considerable performance-related bonuses and a signing on fee.

While The Sun have not speculated on their offer to the winger, the daily newspaper understands a deal has been struck between Spurs and Leeds. The Express, meanwhile, also ran a report on Clarke’s future toward the tail end of last week, claiming the York-born ace was close to a move to Spurs for £15million, and suggested the teenager could be loaned back to us for a season.

When it was shared online that Clarke could be off to North London for a combined £13million, though, here’s how these United supporters reacted…
