Leeds Word On The Tweet

‘Be a strong bench that’ – Lots of Leeds fans laugh off bizarre transfer rumours

|

They don’t call it silly season for nothing. In one of the most bizarre last couple of days, possibly in the history of the transfer window, from seemingly out of nowhere, Leeds United have been linked with two incredible talents.

41-year-old Italian World Cup winner Gianluigi Buffon managed to get Leeds a mention in Italian news outlet Corriere Della Sera. Buffon is out of contract with Paris Saint Germain at the end of the week, and reports suggest that he wants to keep playing despite his age.

Meanwhile, former West Ham tantrum thrower Dimitri Payet has been linked through ‘the French Media’, via Sky Sports, with GFFN reporting that his current club Marseille are facing huge financial problems and need to sell players as soon as possible. Given that Payet is their second highest wage earner, he’d certainly benefit them if we were to depart.

Where these rumours came from, I don’t know, and quite frankly I don’t want to know. One thing’s for sure though, is that Leeds United fans lapped up these rumours, taking to Twitter to laugh off any suggestions that these were true. Take these rumours as jokes if you wish, but after Edgar Davids managed to play two seasons with Barnet, I personally am not ruling anything out.
