According to Ger Lynch and his podcast Leeds United-The View, Cody Drameh is set to leave Leeds United in January.

The young right-back is set to depart Elland Road in January and it appears Leeds United are willing to let the player leave. After failing to break into the first team as everyone would have hoped, it now seems the 20-year-old will be leaving West Yorkshire after two years at the club. The youngster who featured heavily in the youth set-up has only appeared once for the first team so far this season, that coming in the dismal performance in the 5-2 loss to Brentford. With the Arrival of Rasmus Kristensen in the summer, Drameh has slipped further down the pecking order behind Luke Ayling and the Danish right-back. He went on a season-long loan to Cardiff City in the Championship and won the Player of the Season award there but it just hasn’t worked out at Leeds for the youngster for whatever reason. It now appears he will be leaving the club with offers from Holland and Germany as well as some in England.

Ger Lynch said, “The long-running saga of Cody Drameh looks likely to be coming to a head, Leeds look set to let the player depart, and that is according to Graeme Smyth.

“He has 19 months left on his current deal looks like the chances of there being a new one are all but dead. His agent has been saying that there’s plenty of interest between Newcastle and Dortmund and the player, Leeds expect more interest in the player to come from Germany from Holland, as well as coming from locally within the UK.

“He’s only been at Leeds two years, he’s come up from Fulham for that, but another report from caught offside claims that there was a contract extension on the table that has now been withdrawn.

“So either Leeds couldn’t agree a contract extension with Cody or Cody wasn’t willing to agree on a contract extension at Leeds but it appears according to caught offside that that contract has now been withdrawn and Leeds look all but set to sell the player.”

Should Leeds let Cody Drameh leave?

He added, “He has looked very, very good for the under 20’s and the under 23’s last year.

“For me and for a lot of people he just hasn’t done enough when he’s got into the first team, he hasn’t looked great, Brentford this season was a bad game for everybody, but he hasn’t, Summerville (Crysencio) struggled with this a little bit when he first came in, he just hasn’t gone in and made that impact when he’s come in.

“Under 21’s or u20’s team against Crewe in the Papa John’s trophy this year, he looked really, really good in a team that was pretty poor on the night.

“So yeah, just it’s a strange one, but we have an abundance of right-backs and if Luke Ayling is going to stick around beyond the end of the season.

“Someone has to move on but yeah strangely with Leeds, never had an issue with right-backs, always had an issue with left-backs, So yeah, we’ll see what happens there.”

Jesse Marsch will be hoping to secure some new faces in January to bolster his squad and hopefully start the climb up the Premier League table. A left-back and a striker must be on the list as the club have struggled to kick on from the good start they had in the first few weeks. A run of no wins in eight games saw them slip into the relegation places but wins at Anfield and at home to Bournemouth have seen them keep their heads above water for the time being.
