Former Premier League man says Leeds are missing something under Bielsa. Is he right? – Report

Enough with the Eddie Nketiah talk, for one day at least.

There is one other footballer that Leeds brought in this summer, that perhaps hasn’t been given his opportunity to sign, and according to former Premier League man Darren Bent, it’s not just the Leeds fans that are missing him.

Speaking to Football Insider, Bent said:

“I’m sure a lot of Leeds fans will be asking what Helder Costa and Eddie Nketiah have to do to get their starts. Helder Costa, I still believe he is a Premier League player, he is way too good for the Championship. You speak to Wolves fans and they miss him. At the moment, they’re going through a bad run, there’s so many of them going: ‘Why did we sell him, why did we sell him?’ because he’s a very good player.”

Now, the child in me just instantly says ‘well tough luck they can’t have him he’s ours now’. However, the more grown-up version of me is actually quite concerned about the lack of minutes that Helder Costa is received.

I’ve written a lot recently about the trials and tribulations of Eddie Nketiah, and how can’t seem to break his way into the first team, despite his impressive goal return this season. I must confess that I haven’t given much attention to what is going on with Costa, or at least not as much in comparison to Eddie.

If you take a look at Costa’s record in the Championship, you can clearly see that Darren Bent has a point, he is far too good for this division, but that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be playing. I have suggested in the past that we could be saving him for next year when and if Pablo Hernandez departs, but that doesn’t mean we should be holding him back now.

He’s clearly got the talent and with Leeds fans crying out for more cutting edge to their football, surely it’s worth throwing him in now rather than waiting for next year.

What about you? Do you think that Helder Costa needs to get more minutes in the first team? Or do you think that with Leeds doing so well right now, that we shouldn’t be tampering with a winning formula?
