Good to see that common sense has prevailed.
The ‘Burley Banksy’ has received, let’s just say, some mixed reviews since he started popping up a few months ago. There are some people who love his stuff so much that they are willing to donate money so that he can keep creating his fantastic work. He has even made himself famous enough to earn his own article on him with Phil Hay in The Athletic. However, there have been some people who have taken exception to his incredible artwork.
Well, it looks like that latter group of people are set to be rather disappointed because those works are going to keep on coming.
Leeds United have officially commissioned The Burley Banksy (real name Andy McVeigh) to carry on his work around the city. Speaking on the matter, Leeds Chief Executive Angus Kinnear said:
“The art displayed by Andy is important to Leeds United and the city. The designs depict some of the most impactful players and kits from our 100-year history and you can see from our supporters’ reaction to the recent damage caused to the cabinets and how much it means to us all.”
And Leeds fans were overjoyed when they saw the news.
Excellent news. Can we make sure there are sufficient precautions in place to stop it being defaced this time? Or at least catch them in the act?
