Leeds have excelled under the guidance of Marcelo Bielsa this season and extended their lead at the top of the Championship to four points after Friday night’s victory over Derby County.
The Peacocks stand in a solid position in their quest to return to the Premier League for the first time since suffering relegation in 2004 but there is still work to be done, with the club eyeing new recruits in the January window.
One priority is a new goalkeeper, with an injury to former loanee Jamal Blackman leaving Bailey Peacock-Farrell as the only senior option within the squad at Elland Road, and a staggering move is on the cards to land Real Madrid’s Kiko Casilla.
The 32-year-old is third choice in the Spanish capital behind Thibaut Courtois and Keylor Navas, with Leeds reportedly ready to buy out the remaining 18 months of his contract, and fans have reacted with delight to this news.

This isn’t cheap business but it’s very good business. Fair play to the board, answering our calls for quality. Few additions in attacking roles and I’ll be preparing myself for promotion. Fuck I’m excited.

Quite mind boggling signing if this comes off. Amazing! Serious pedigree and years left in the tank. A sure statement of PL intent. #LUFC

Looks a great acquisition for Leeds. 18 months wages to pay for but the quality we will be getting is immense. BPF could cost us promotion.

Won’t be coming to play second fiddle to Peacock, expect him to play against Rotherham after a good week or so of training #lufc

People panicking about the cost, think of it like this: £50k x 78 weeks (18 months) is £3.9m, Newcastle wanted £4m fee for Darlow (before his wages) so we’d be better off. I don’t know what he earns but £50k is a figure that’s been mentioned.

So we’d pay nothing but adopt his contract as it is now with his sizable wage? In that case, Real are making the compromise to get him moved on, not Leeds or the player. Decent explotation business by Leeds. Very capable in Prem too, so it would save us extra hastle in the summer
