Leeds fighting Premier League clubs for signature of 40-cap attacker

|

Leeds United have shone under the guidance of Marcelo Bielsa this season and extended their advantage at the top of the table to four points after Friday night’s victory over Derby County.

The Peacocks stand in a solid position in their quest to earn a return to the Premier League, 15 years after their relegation in 2004, but further recruits are being targeted in a quest to bolster the club’s push for promotion.

According to TeamTalk, Leeds are one of a number of English sides in the hunt for Columbus Crew’s United States international Gyasi Zardes – with Fulham, Huddersfield Town, Crystal Palace, Middlesbrough and Norwich City also keen.

Capped 40 times by the USA, Zardes excelled in MLS last season after moving to Columbus from LA Galaxy – scoring 19 times in 33 appearances. However, a deal is more likely to take place at the end of the season.

Zardes, who is capable of playing across the attacking line, would be seen as a significant recruit for the Peacocks if they were to return to the Premier League and is an affordable option as TransferMarkt values his services at just £3.15m.
