Fabrizio Romano: Medical today for Kristensen

|

Leeds coach Jesse Marsch will be hoping the deal can be finalised today for RB Salzburg right back Rasmus Kristensen.

Kristensen was identified as a “priority signing” according to Fabrizio Romano, and he is due to have his medical at Leeds today.

Taking to twitter, Romano said, “Medical today for Rasmus Kristensen as new Leeds player. Deal set to be signed and announced as Jesse Marsch wanted Kristensen as priority signing. ⚪️🤝 #LUFC Two German clubs also wanted Kristensen but he’s joining Leeds this week.”

Two German clubs are believed to have been chasing the Danish international, but the 24 year old has opted for a switch to Elland Road and the Premier League.

Kristensen brings with him a wealth of experience having played domestically for FC Midtjylland, Ajax and more recently Red Bull Salzburg. In September 2021 he was called up to the Denmark National team for a World Cup qualifier. He played the first 45 minutes in the 1-0 win over the Faroe Islands.

Whilst at Ajax in the 2018/19 season, he helped his side to a League title and another trophy when they lifted the KNVB cup.

Then at RB Salzburg he won the Austrian Bundesliga and the Austrian cup in each of the 2019/20, 2020/21 and the 2021/2022 seasons.

No doubt he has the attributes to thrive in the Premier League and Leeds fans will be excited to see a player of this calibre put pen to paper at Elland Road. They will want to see more players like Kristensen added to the squad, even if it just to add some much needed strength in depth.

It was well documented how thin the squad was last season and they are making the right moves to get bodies through the door before the campaign kicks off in August.
