Fabrizio Romano: Leeds mull over winger’s future

|

Leeds have a decision on their hands around the future of Jack Harrison as fellow Premier League strugglers Leicester City persist with their late push to sign the winger.

The transfer window will close tonight, Tuesday January 31st, at 11pm. Leeds United have been one of the more active clubs in the league throughout the current window as Jesse Marsch has strengthened his first team squad in key areas of the field.

In terms of players departing, last week we discussed that Leicester City were among a number of clubs interested in Leeds winger Jack Harrison. Its been difficult to know what to make of the speculation. Leeds should be in no rush to sell Harrison, but we do have a substantial number of attacking options.

This morning, football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has weighed in with his latest update on the links between Leicester and Harrison:

It appears that Leicester are not giving up on their pursuit despite how late it is in the transfer window. Romano details that a key element of Leeds’ willingness to sell would be the likelihood of signing a suitable replacement in time.

After Leeds FA Cup tie with Accrington Stanley last weekend, head coach Marsch stated that Harrison isn’t particularly eager to leave. Having said that, it wouldn’t be a surprise for the club to negotiate if the transfer fee is in the region of what reports disclose, with £30 – 35 million being suggested.

Jack Harrison has spent four and a half years at Elland Road, and was a key player in the Leeds team that secured promotion back to the Premier League. This season he has been a bit inconsistent, but we know what he’s capable of. Given the fact that it’s the last day of the transfer window and Leicester are close to us in the table, I don’t think we should let him go right now. If he moves on in the summer fair enough, that gives Leeds plenty of time to bring in a replacement.

What do you think? Would you let Harrison go before tonight’s deadline? Let us know in the comments below and on Twitter at @VitalLeeds!
