“It must be the attitude” – Pundit left questioning 5 ft 9 man after Leeds decision

Sky Sports pundit Darren Bent has been questioning Jean-Kevin Augustin’s attitude after the striker joined Leeds United on loan for the rest of the season.

Augustin signed a temporary deal with the West Yorkshire outfit late in the January window having struggled to find his feet in Ligue 1 with AS Monaco this term, after being sent to the Principality on a one-year contract from parent side RB Leipzig.

The 23-year-old made just two starts in ten French top-flight appearances and failed to score in any league game before being given permission to join the Whites, whom he is yet to represent.

Bent is excited to see what Augustin is capable of producing when on the field under boss Marcelo Bielsa, but fears that the Argentine may now have a prima donna in his senior fold.

“It’s a great signing for them,” Bent told Football Insider. “You’d obviously have to say that, ability-wise, Augustin is brilliant, but it must be the attitude side which is why he’s been allowed to go to Leeds.

“For Leeds United, it’s a great, great signing, he’s got bags of ability and I’m really excited to see him play.”

Bielsa left Augustin out of his matchday plans as we lost to Wigan Athletic on Saturday, having also chosen not to include the former France U21 international against Millwall after only being at Elland Road for a day.

Bent’s words of caution are not the first to appear since Augustin arrived, either, as the 5 ft 9 Frenchman was touted as someone who wastes their talent not long after the club announced that they had decided to sign the forward.

United will be keen to ensure that is not the case having agreed to pay €2million (£1.6m) to secure Augustin’s services for the remainder of the season, which could rise another €21m (£17.8m) in the summer should we secure promotion.

In other Leeds United news, fans have been reacting on social media after a second-tier boss discussed a weakness he sees in Bielsa’s Whites.
