Crocked Leeds ace ready to make a difference in promotion bid

If we fail to secure Premier League football for our centenary season, we will be sure to have a range of excuses in the bag, mostly our horrific luck with injuries.

The Yorkshire Evening Post calculated back in February that we had lost players for 140 games altogether, and that was before we knew the full extent of Kemar Roofe’s knee ligament damage or losing Pontus Jansson.

Another one that figure did not account for, other than the broken foot he sustained in late July, was Adam Forshaw, who we have not seen recently thanks to a blow to his knee.

The initial diagnosis of Forshaw’s injury was fairly promising and suggested he could be in line to face Swansea on February 13, although he missed that deadline and the problem has persisted ever since.

Our number four, however, is finally targeting his return to action when we come out of the international break to face Millwall, and has been speaking on the condition of his knee with the club’s official website.

“It’s improving,” he said. “It’s been frustrating, I’m not going to lie. It’s probably gone on slightly longer than what I would’ve hoped. I’m improving, and hopefully I can be ready for the next game.

“I’ve been working really close with Ruben [Crespo] and the strength and conditioning coaches, the physios and just listening to them. They’re the experts.

“At times I’ve come in and it has been painful, so we’ve had to step back a little bit to go again, try different gym exercises, certain straight line running.

“It’s been frustrating, but it is part and parcel, unfortunately. I can push on this week and join in with the team, get some really good training minutes in me and be ready.

“It’s crunch time in the season, and I want to make sure I’m 100% right before I come back in. Hopefully I can play a part in the last eight games.”
