Bielsa Avoided “Bad Karma” Ahead Of Play-Off Final According To Former Player

|

Former Leeds United fullback Danny Mills has praised manager Marcelo Bielsa for being ‘very clever’ in his decision to instruct the players to let Aston Villa score given the circumstances around our opening goal on Sunday at Elland Road.

With the battle for the automatic promotion slots over, Leeds United have already secured a Play-Off spot for the 2018/19 campaign and given the relative form of those sides who will now gain a season extension, there is some expectation that it’ll be Leeds vs Villa once again but at Wembley Stadium as the season campaign comes to a close.

Speaking to Talksport following the game as they chewed over the controversial moments in the match, the now pundit believed that it had been a clever move from Bielsa as nothing was riding on the game – but he didn’t think he’d have embraced the spirit of ‘fair play’ in the same manner if victory would’ve counted for something.

“Very clever. Had that had mattered, however, bad it was, I don’t think it would have happened. But he’s probably looked at it and thought we could probably face Villa in the play-offs, and if we face Villa in the play-offs, do we really want this bad feeling? Do we want this bad karma?”

If we do meet them again the game will have enough needle as it is.
