Leeds’ Next Generation Seal Victory To Put Themselves Into The Final

|

Leeds United’s Under 23 side were in action earlier this evening as we welcomed Coventry City to home soil for the Professional Development League National semi-final.

It was a strong lineup from Carlos Corberan with Izzy Brown, Jack Clarke, Aapo Halme, Jamie Shackleton and goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell joining our usual youngsters.

Leeds: Peacock-Farrell, Shackleton, Struijk, Halme, Oduor, McCalmont, Gotts, Stevens, Bogusz, Clarke, Brown. Subs: Miazek, Nicell, Diaz, Edmondson, Temenuzhkov.

With Leeds taking the north title at the under age group, Coventry finished second in the south table and we were looking to build on our success and bounce back from Premier League Cup defeat last week – Newcastle – and get ourselves into the final.

Robbie Gotts opened the scoring four minutes in but Coventry did draw level. Ryan Edmondson continued his fantastic season and hit goal number 19 of his year, but again we were pegged back, so it was into Extra Time.

In the second period, Kun Temenuzhkov found the back of the net with an effort from outside of the box and despite Coventry throwing everything they had, we held on to take the win 3-2.
