With Leeds United stuttering again in our last match (Birmingham City) and losing second place in the Championship table to Sheffield United, it was all eyes to tonight’s trip to Deepdale to face Preston North End and hopefully we retake the spot back and continue to put the pressure on.
Manager Marcelo Bielsa certainly had a boost pre-game as Pablo Hernandez took his spot in the starting XI despite the injury concerns surrounding him but it was typical Leeds in the opening 45 minutes. Better possession and a raft of chances that went begging, but second half it all changed as they were reduced to ten men and Patrick Bamford scored a brace to give us the advantage in the 62nd and 76th minutes.
With the backline keeping the clean sheet, we return to winning ways with the only complaint being it wasn’t by a greater margin, but the brace should certainly do Bamford’s confidence the world of good given his recent criticism.
The two point advantage in second spot is ours once again, but Norwich and United are still to play.
