Some Leeds supporters have been reacting on social media after club CEO Angus Kinnear was appointed as the new Independent Chairman of the Board for British Weight Lifting.
Kinnear joined the Whites board two years ago, having previously sat on West Ham United’s for three years and Arsenal’s for a decade.
He will now join the Kirsktall-based organisation, who are the governing body for weight lifting and para-powerlifting in the United Kingdom, but is not stepping down from his Elland Road duties, rather working in the position alongside his responsibilities in West Yorkshire.
In a statement of his appointment as the new Independent Chairman of the Board, British Weight Lifting noted that Kinnear stood out to them as he brings a wealth of sporting, marketing and commercial expertise having previously sat on the Board of Commonwealth Games England for a five-year period, after time with Coca-Cola.
They did not specify that he would be acting in his duties alongside his work at Elland Road, so some fans were initially questioning his appointment.
But when the Yorkshire Evening Post’s Phil Hay replied to one supporter stating that it would be a parallel position, here’s how these Leeds fans reacted…
Christ I wish Kasilla was as good as our fanbase. Nothing gets past it does it. ????

Not really that left field. I work in executive search and it’s common for executives to have a non-executive role alongside their executive role in a non competing space.

Bamford was getting knocked off the ball easily towards the end of last season.

Tell me about it. It was a genuine concern but Phil says it’s a side job so it’s a huge weight off our shoulders
