Leeds Word On The Tweet

‘As near best case scenario we can hope for’ – Many Leeds fans react to reporter’s claim

Many Leeds supporters have been reacting on social media after Sport journalist Abdellah Boulma provided an update into the rumoured takeover by Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

It emerged on Monday that the Qatar Sports Investment (QSI) group were in discussions with Andrea Radrizzani to buy shares in United, and that they would be meeting with the Italian and manager Marcelo Bielsa in Doha, Qatar.

It was not suggested at the time to what extent discussions with the QSI group –chaired by the President of Paris Saint-Germain Al-Khelaifi – had reached, although it was suggested the English market was high on their agenda following their successes in France, and that they had looked into investing in AS Roma.

Now, though, it appears Monday’s rumoured meeting between Radrizzani, Bielsa and Al-Khelaifi was a success, depending on your stance in the matter, as Boulma has noted that an agreement was finalised in Doha.

Al-Khelaifi will now buy a 10% share in the club, having first agreed on the size of his investment back on May 16, although the option for a full takeover may be included in the contract.

The New York Times’ report on Al-Khelaifi’s investment notes the potential for a provision to be made that will see the QSI group offered the chance to take full control of United, citing a source who has ‘knowledge of the discussions’.

BBC broadcaster Adam Pope, meanwhile, has suggested that he is not aware of discussions reaching an advanced stage for any form of takeover.

But when Boulma noted that an agreement for a 10% stake – the same sized stake the 49ers Enterprises hold – was shared on Reddit, here’s how these Leeds fans reacted…
