“A Bit Sorry For Him” – Manager Comments On Youngsters Game Time At Leeds

|

Leeds United fans have already seen endless rumours about potential loan departures in January for trio Jack Clarke, Ben White and Eddie Nketiah.

A return to Brighton and Hove Albion has already been squashed for White but doubts naturally remain about Clarke and Nketiah.

It’s probably an educated guess that if White was game % dependent on the recall clause, Nketiah’s deal could be similar and although former Arsenal manager Unai Emery didn’t sound eager to bring him back, new gaffer Freddie Ljungberg isn’t quite singing the same tune given a recent interview he held after moving into their hot seat.

“If he goes on loan we want him to play football and get minutes otherwise they can maybe be here. We want them to be on loan to get minutes. I feel a bit sorry for him because he is a great player and the future of this club. When he has had his chance he scores goals and that’s what he is about. I’ve been calling him and he text me as well two days ago. Like I said I go on a game to game basis but you asked for my opinion and that’s my opinion.”

As fans will be keenly aware given the clamour for him to have replaced Patrick Bamford earlier in the season prior to his time on the sidelines with injury, the 20-year-old has found the net five times for us, but short of EFL Cup action he’s yet to start a single game in the second tier.

Presumably, that will change now he’s back fit again, but Ljungberg’s comments could now be a possible worry as it is a different tact from Emery’s standpoint.

Should We Now Be Worried About Nketiah?
