“He Is Going To Replace Him” – Bielsa Names Phillips Replacement In Leeds Side

|

With Leeds United fans keenly aware that key midfielder Kalvin Phillips will miss this weekend’s Championship clash with Huddersfield Town at the John Smith’s Stadium having picked up his fifth booking of the 2019/20 campaign, plenty of air time has been given to who exactly should replace him.

Noel Whelan felt that youngster Jamie Shackleton would be ideal if he was fit for the game, but in Thursday’s press conference manager Marcelo Bielsa confirmed that he was out with a ‘new issue’ for three weeks – along with Adam Forshaw and Tyler Roberts.

With plenty of fans backing on loan, and very impressive, Brighton and Hove Albion centre-half to move forward, Bielsa actually revealed that this had been something that they had been working on at Thorp Arch – so he’s pretty much nailed on to take that position given his words.

“For a long period we are working with White in this position. He is going to replace him. Of course, it’s a new position for him. He has the skills to play there, but he’s not used to playing there. Always is something we don’t know what is going to happen.”

Being a new position it’ll be a risk, but the lad has been composed enough so far, so it’ll be interesting to see how he gets on.

Will White Excel In Midfield?

Yes

Better At Centre-Half I Think
