Leeds Word On The Tweet

“You’ve been missed”, “Great to have you back” – Loads of Leeds fans rejoice at player’s tweet

Loads of Leeds United fans have been rejoicing on social media, after Jamie Shackleton took to Twitter following his return from a muscular injury.

Shackleton has not featured for the first-team since our 1-0 win at Reading in late November, having sustained aΒ muscular issue during a one-minute cameo appearance on the back of a previous hamstring strain.

The Leeds-born 20-year-old suffered the hamstring injury in the first-half of our 1-0 win over Reading on October 1 while making his fourth Championship start of the term, having opened each of our September league fixtures after playing just six minutes in August.

Head coach Marcelo Bielsa confirmed last month before our trip to Fulham that Shackleton had returned to the training fields at Thorp Arch ahead of a potential comeback, but is yet to call on the youngster again.

His comeback trail featured a run out under U23s boss Carlos Corberan on Sunday, though, as the young Whites side thrashed Hull City 5-0 to move to within a point of Professional Development League North Division leaders Burnley.

Does Shackleton feature vs Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday?

Yes

No

Shackleton played as one of our two central forward midfielders in a 4-1-4-1 in front of Alfie McCalmont, but would last just 30 minutes before Mateusz Bogusz entered the action with the Whites already a goal to the good.

Despite only featuring in a very quiet opening half-hour, Shackleton was in fine spirits after the full-time whistle, and took to Twitter to share his joy in getting some minutes under his belt.

Here are some of the messages shared as fans reacted to Shackleton’s post…

In other Leeds United news, an agent has confirmed that we have lodged a bid to land a striker, but the deal has been ruled out.
