Young forward set for loan switch

|

According to reports from Football Insider, 18 year old Leeds forward Max Dean looks set for a loan switch to League One side MK Dons until the end of the 2022-23 season.

Max Dean is among a group a young prospects at Leeds who the club has hoped would be a future first team player. At the age of 18, he has registered 6 appearances for Leeds’ under 21 side this season, netting four goals [via TransferMarkt].

First team minutes are not something Leeds fans would expect to see for the teenage forward, as there are plenty of more experienced options in the Whites’ squad. Heading on loan to League One gives the youngster a better chance of getting some regular game time. MK Dons currently sit 22nd in League One, two points from safety. With only 23 goals in 25 league games, there is a clear need for someone who can put the ball in the net.

Should Max Dean complete this loan move, he will be joining up with former Leeds first team coach Mark Jackson. Jackson was an academy coach at Leeds, and would have worked with Dean in his developmental stages before joining Jesse Marsch’s coaching staff.

When Mark Jackson left Elland Road to take on his first head coaching role, Director of Football Victor Orta sang the 45 year old’s praises, particularly hailing his efforts with developing young talent at the club [via The Athletic]:

“Whilst I am sad to let Mark leave us, this is a great opportunity for him to go and experience being a head coach and he deserves to take this next step.”

“Not only has Jacko been instrumental in progressing many of our young players, but he has also been a really important part of Jesse’s team.”
