Whites handed boost ahead of Manchester United fixtures

|

Leeds United have been given a boost ahead of the two games against fierce rivals Manchester United with the Reds missing a further two key players.

Christian Eriksen has recently been ruled out with a long-term ankle injury and Casemiro’s straight red card for dangerous play in their win over Crystal Palace this afternoon sees the former Real Madrid star miss the next three games through suspension.

Manchester United was in control of the game, leading 2-0 against Viera’s men when a melee involving many players from both sides ensued. Casemiro was seen with both of his hands around Will Hughes’s neck and after a VAR check, the Brazilian was shown a straight red, casting doubts over the squad’s availability for the upcoming fixtures.

Leeds travel to Old Trafford on Wednesday night and then host the reverse fixture at Elland Road on the following Sunday, with the gaps in Manchester United’s midfield looking where Jesse Marsch could possibly cause them some problems. Injury doubts over Scott McTominay before the Crystal Palace game could leave them with only Fred and Bruno Fernandes available if the Scotland International hasn’t shaken off a muscular injury by the time Jesse Marsch’s men arrive.

Leeds will be hoping to have new signing Weston McKennie available after he completed a late switch in the January transfer window, with the Whites’ midfield now looking more resolute with the arrival of the American who will play alongside compatriot Tyler Adams in the centre of the park.

Rodrigo Moreno has been ruled out for around eight weeks with an ankle problem so another new signing, Georginio Rutter could be in line to make his Premier League debut against Nottingham Forest tomorrow.
