Leeds United moved back into the automatic promotion spots in the Championship table at the weekend having taken a narrow 1-0 victory over Birmingham City, but it seems those who were looking forward to Pablo Hernandez’s return will have to wait a little bit longer.
The 34-year-old Spaniard has missed the last couple of games with a muscle injury, but he returned to the pitch for Carlos Corberan’s Under 23 side earlier in the week and despite the timing of the game, many felt he would be back in the squad for Saturday’s clash – but he was again missing.
Speaking to Leeds Live manager Marcelo Bielsa had to sadly admit that although the U23 runout didn’t aggravate his last injury, he had now picked up a hamstring problem.
“He didn’t have any problem with the previous injury, but after he feels something in the back of his leg. In the hamstring.”
With Leeds fans naturally hating injuries given how much they have hampered us during Bielsa’s time at the club, the reaction to yet another problem for the key player is pretty obvious.
With Preston North End next up in midweek, Bielsa has already confirmed that Hernandez is out for the rest of the week at the very least.
