It turned into a good weekend for Leeds United fans, with the October international break behind us not only did we celebrate our Centenary, we got back to winning ways in the clash with Birmingham City and lifted ourselves back up into second place in the Championship table.
The winning goal on the day came from our Yorkshire Pirlo as Kalvin Phillips netted 65 minutes in, and ultimately, it was enough for us to take the victory and all three points.
Former player and now pundit Darren Bent is clearly a fan of the 23-year-old and speaking to Football Insider the former England man was the latest to claim that he felt he was destined for Premier League football.
“How is this kid not playing in the Premier League as he has all the attributes. His technique on the ball, his passing, his game awareness, his tackles, yes sometimes he toes the line with his tackles but that’s for another day. His tactical awareness, I just think as an all-round holding midfield player, he’s got absolutely everything, and not only that he can score goals as well, so he’s not just a holding midfield player as he can get forward as well. When needs must he can go and get a goal, so it was fitting that yesterday their best player went and got the winning goal.”
It’s not a new claim and after all the speculation over the summer, it is somewhat fitting that Phillips has written himself into our history books with his first goal of the campaign, as ever, most Leeds fans surely agree he’s destined for the top flight, we just hope it happens with us and not someone else.
