Leeds United’s injury situation got a little bit worse on Friday afternoon with confirmation of on-loan goalkeeper Jamal Blackman’s injury.

Having suffered a collision with Beryly Lubala in the 84th minute of the Under 23 game with Birmingham City, the 25-year-old was stretchered off and later in the evening it was confirmed he had suffered a broken tibia.

He now returns to parent club Chelsea for rehabilitation and recovery.

With injuries hitting manager Marcelo Bielsa’s options across the park, on a defensive front this is another massive blow for us, as although Blackman was clearly second choice under the gaffer, he was at least providing Bailey Peacock-Farrell with stronger competition on the training pitch as said previously, we’ll have to see if he leans on youth now or goes the emergency loan route until the January transfer window opens – but the emergency loan route may not be completely in play either.

The reactions from fans to the news was mixed, some offered their wishes, others looked at possible replacements from Burnley’s Tom Heaton with some even mentioning Birmingham goalkeeper David Stockdale.
