Over the weekend reports emerged stating that Leeds United planned to face Manchester United in an Australian based pre-season friendly next summer.

The original report came from The World Game and they say the plans will be officially confirmed at somepoint this week – they namecheck Wednesday.

The suggestion is for Leeds it will be a two-game tour of Australia as we spread our wings and that the United clash will take place at Perth’s Optus Stadium, and we will then face Western Sydney Wanderers in Sydney.

If their claims are right, the tie against United will take place on Wednesday, July 17 with our second game following on July 21.

If this is subsequently confirmed by the club, it’ll be only the third time that both sides have met since our slide from the Premier League and if promotion hopes can be achieved this year, it would be a cracking way for manager Marcelo Bielsa to benchmark the squad against the challenges that would lie ahead.
