“Very difficult”, “Not sure I can pick” – Player discussion sparks vast debate among Leeds fans

Loads of Leeds United fans have been in discussion on social media, after a debate on who has been our Player of the Season so far drew in a vast range of responses.

Manager Marcelo Bielsa has called on 23 players in the Championship after 26 games this season, ranging from first-team mainstays Ben White, Kiko Casilla, Jack Harrison, Mateusz Klich and Stuart Dallas, to emerging talents like Oliver Casey, Pascal Struijk, Leif Davis and Jordan Stevens.

Some players have been tasked with occupying multiple positions over the course of our promotion-chasing campaign, as well, with Dallas given minutes at right and left-back, defensive and central midfield and on the right-wing.

The team also plays vastly differently with and without leading goalscorer Patrick Bamford, who offers the side a focal point as well as someone who has found the back of the net ten times – double that of second-most man Harrison.

On-loan Manchester City winger Harrison has earned a lot of admiration at Elland Road for his performances this season, though, as the 23-year-old has returned for a second campaign and struck five goals and penned a team-high six assists.

But for some of the fanbase in West Yorkshire, their Player of the Season so far has been another one of our on-loan talents in Brighton & Hove Albion’s White, who moved to the club last summer shortly before we sold Pontus Jansson but has stepped into the line-up and filled the void left by the Sweden international.

Here are some of the messages shared as fans discussed who has been our Player of the Season so far…

In other Leeds United news, the club will not be signing a 9-goal striker this month.
