With the confirmation earlier today that Leeds United had opted to use the second year option on manager Marcelo Bielsa to keep him with us for the coming 2019/20 Championship campaign, fans were naturally delighted that our loveable genius was staying and that talks had been positive.
Having failed in our hopes of attaining promotion from the Championship back into the Premier League in the campaign of 2018/19, whilst there was disappointment at the end, there were still plenty of highlights as the season ticked by and further positives were provided by our youngsters and Carlos Corberan.
Many fans feel that our first team shortcomings are pretty obvious – heavily hit by injuries, but also a woeful chances to goals ratio given the efforts we created yet didn’t make enough of, so when it comes to strengthening and adding a bit of depth and more of a clinical edge, there’s every reason to believe we can go one better next season.
With confirmation of him remaining at Elland Road for next year, there was also an incredible statistic associated with that decision – Bielsa becomes the first person since Simon Grayson back in 2008/12 to manage us in back to back seasons.
That is an unbelievable stat

A manager for more than one season was needed, and i'm glad that its Bielsa.

Just goes to show, take everything you're told with a massive pinch of salt

A step in the right direction, most teams that have secured automatic promotion from the championship have done so with the same manager that they had at the end of the previous season…continuity is important.
