‘To think he was cast aside’ – These Leeds fans reflect on £1.8m-rated ace’s campaign

Mateusz Klich turned 29 on Thursday, so a handful of Leeds fans chose to reflect on his 2018/19 campaign as their way of celebrating the occasion.

The recent season was a packed schedule for the central midfielder, as he featured in 50 of our fixtures across all competitions, along with representing Poland on the international stage nine times to bring his cap tally to 19.

Altogether, that amounts to 4,696 minutes of action in a single season, more than any other player in the entire Championship recorded, and he still scored ten goals and laid on nine assists for United in the English second-tier regular season and Play-Offs combined.

Beyond his goal involvement, Klich put himself about on the field for us too, with an average 2.7 attempted tackles, 1.0 blocks, 1.1 dribbles, 51.1 passes, 2.0 shots, and 1.3 aerial duels per ninety minutes in the Championship.

It was clear from his displays at Elland Road that he was one of our turnaround sensations of the term, having started the season on the fringes with a departure on the cards following an average loan spell in the Eredivisie with FC Utrecht.

Here’s what some Leeds fans have been sharing in regards to Klich’s campaign…
