“This is ridiculous”, “That’s his magic” – These Leeds fans react to 4-cap star’s “mad” stat

A few Leeds United fans have been reacting online, after InStat Football’s action map for Pablo Hernandez’s performance in the West Yorkshire Derby win at Huddersfield Town was shared on social media by LUFC Data.

The map shows Hernandez often took up a deeper role at the John Smith’s Stadium, with 55 passes completed – the most of any player for either side – but only 16 of those came in the final third – albeit also a game-high tally.

Hernandez’s total final third pass tally in the Championship this season is strong enough for the 4-cap Spaniard to rank sixth overall in the league, per Sofa Score figures, having amassed 267 across his 14 appearances – just 60 fewer than first-placed Tom Cairney (327 in 19 games).

He has also amassed a total of 408 accurate passes in the opposition half this term, which have helped toward creating five big chances and 33 key balls.

What is Hernandez's best position?

Saturday’s West Yorkshire Derby not only saw Hernandez offer a controlling presence in possession, but also saw the 34-year-old end his 11-game goal drought by notching our second of the afternoon in the 78th-minute – his first since Matchday 2, when we drew 1-1 with Nottingham Forest.

Here are some of the messages shared as fans reacted to Hernandez’s action map from the weekend’s win at Huddersfield…
