It wasn’t a classic breakthrough season for highly rated Leeds United youngster Jamie Shackleton, but I think it still counts as one for the 19-year-old.
Although manager Marcelo Bielsa only called on him seven times from the start of matches, the versatile youngster did appear 17 more times in the Championship campaign as a substitute and he chipped in with two assists, and significantly impressed fans given his Play-Off Semi-Final efforts against Derby County.
Having received his maiden England Under 20 call up this summer in recognition of his continued development, plenty of fans expect him to soon feature not only more for us in the campaign of 2019/20 but also in terms of a promotion through to the Under 21 group.
Such international recognition does however shine more of a spotlight on youngsters, so it’s understandable that some Leeds fans would’ve preferred it if he’d stayed slightly more under the radar.
With that said, I’m sure scouts are completely aware of him and if they weren’t, his Derby performance would’ve put him on their lists.
Hope you do well but not if any scouts are watching
